Asha Handicrafts captures the heritage and hope of artisans from across India by bringing their beautiful and luxurious handcrafted products to the world. Because Asha Handicrafts is a certified fair trade organization, when you purchase one of their lifestyle products, you are helping support these artisans and their families.
The organization started in 1975 with a goal of producing “fantastic, ethically sourced yet commercial products to maximize sales while maximizing benefits to both our artisans and customers.”
Asha Handicrafts has two divisions: One focuses on trading, and the other is a resource center. The organization works with fair trade importers around the globe to bring them the handmade crafts of its artisans, like jewelry, wood, ceramic, textile, and other decorative products. The resource center oversees welfare programs to aid the artisans and their families, as well as helping to train and develop artists.
The number of artisans who are part of Asha Handicrafts has grown to more than 800. When you purchase from one of their artisans, you are promoting entrepreneurship, as well as social and economic reform.
